Sustainable agriculture and food security focus on the availability of food now and in the future: a major concern of the scientific and commercial community worldwide. The prominence of this subject is driven by an increasing global population, pressure on non-renewable or scarce resources, and a need to increase food production whilst minimizing the impact on the environment. food security is defined as the “availability at all times of adequate, nourishing, diverse, balanced and moderate world food supplies of basic foodstuffs to sustain a steady expansion of food consumption and to offset fluctuations in production and prices

We understand “sustainable agriculture” as an integrated system of plant and animal production practices having a site-specific application that will, over the long term: satisfy human food and fiber needs, enhance environmental quality and the natural resource base upon which the agriculture economy depends, make the most efficient use of non-renewable resources and on-farm resources and integrate, where appropriate, natural biological cycles and controls, sustain the economic viability of farm operations, Enhance the quality of life for farmers and society as a whole. Hence, SRADev Nigeria believes and works towards achieving sustainability needs to be an integral part of food security planning.
